The university’s history dates back to 1799, founded by the musician Franz Körgöll as the Linz Conservatory of Music. It was renamed the Bruckner Conservatory of Music in 1932 and officially became a private university in 2004, adopting its current name in honor of the Austrian composer Anton Bruckner.
